5 New Habits to Improve Myself

Tuesday, July 07, 2015

Do you ever have those good habits you want to incorporate into your life, but you just never get to it? Yesh? Me too. I think we're all on the same boat here haha.

Welp, I'm finally gonna do something about it. I've had these new habits at the back of my mind for ages and today, I decided to integrate them into my life from now on. FOR REAL.

1. Beat jet lag ASAP
I've always had trouble beating jet lag whenever I fly from England to Thailand. England's time is 6-7 hours behind Thailand, depending on whether it's Daylight Saving Time or not. When I'm at home, I usually fall asleep around 5-6 am and wake up at 3-4 pm. This means I spend half of the day sleeping heh.. when I could've been doing so many productive things during that time.

To do: Since it's hard to force myself to fall asleep, I shall make myself wake up earlier every day. And NO TAKING NAPS DURING THE DAY. (So guilty of doing this lately *facepalm*) This should make me feel sleepy earlier and thus, allow my sleep cycle to adjust to Thailand's time quicker.

2. Start exercising again
Ever since final exams started, I haven't been working out at all. Bad bad Nicole. Now that summer's here, I have more free time and no studying to do; it's time to start exercising again. Currently, the only thing on my schedule is tutoring kids English at Mercy Centre.

To do: This is a rough plan but I'm aiming to lift weights at the gym at least 2x a week (gotta get them booty gains y'know XD). For cardio and general fitness, I'm going to do Muay Thai at least once a week. I just found a decent Muay Thai gym today, and I look forward to learning this martial art that's been a part of Thai culture for hundreds of years. Perhaps also do yoga with my mom occasionally.

3. Floss regularly
Yup, I'm guilty of not flossing my teeth. (Don't worry, I do brush them often haha) I feel like it's a such a hassle. But I'm aware that the benefits outweigh the con, which is me just being lazy haha.

To do: Simply floss my teeth at least once a day! Make it a part of my daily routine.

4. Use face masks
I've been following the 10-step Korean Skincare Routine (I'll blog about it soon :)) almost everyday. But I tend to skip the face mask step because it takes time and I get too sleepy hahah.. However, I have used it once or twice and MY FACE FELT AMAZING. Soo soft and smooth ahh.

To do: Try to start my night time skincare routine earlier so I have time to leave a face mask on for a while. Hm, it's not necessary to do it every single day though. At least 2-3x a week should be good.

5. Cover mouth while yawning
I know this sounds dumb but I have a bad habit of forgetting to close my mouth when I yawn. I look like an old mutated potato when I do that.

To do: Don't make people go blind with my appalling yawning face - cover mouth while yawning every time! It doesn't require much effort at all and I just have to remember do it heh.

♥ I hope you enjoyed getting a teensy bit intimate with me here :P

Do you have any new habits you want to start doing? What are they? Feel free to share them below :)

With love,

Nicole

  2. Same here, nic. I haven't exercised for awhile since school started. I have this problem with my posture so I guess I'll enroll myself into a yoga sessions. But really, I'm laughing at the "not covering my mouth when I yawn" well, I can relate cs I sometimes tend to forget. How inappropriate is that? Lol. You've got a lovely blog. Bookmarking it now!

  12. Hmm, sleeping early is one thing I wish I can make into a habit. It's easier to stay up late than sleep early and it's starting to take a toll on me. :(

Also trying to chew slowly and not be in a hurry to eat everytime because I always eat in huge portions.. then again, I eat alone most of the time so it's okay, no one will see? Haha

Lastly, I wish I was dedicated to follow skincare routines. That 10-step process you mentioned sounds tedious.. I only apply face masks when I remember I still have some left. xD

I wish I had your jetlag problems, hahaha. :P

    1. Eep sorry for the late reply. Aww I totally agree about the sleeping late habit. I'm still sleeping at sunrise and waking up in the afternoon lol.. > <

Omigosh I have the same problem! I eat so fast it feels like I'm just inhaling the food LOL. We really need to fix this habit though.. it's really bad for your digestive system T__T

I know 10-step skincare routine sounds like a lot but honestly it takes no more than 10 minutes for me every night! (if I don't use face or clay mask). I'll write a detailed blog post about my routine some time in the future. I'm still trying new products and seeing which one works best :)

Thank you so much for your sincere comment ^^ <3
