Ramen Love

Sunday, April 10, 2016

If you know me well or follow me on my social medias, you'd know that I really, really love ramen. Back home in Thailand, there are plenty of authentic ramen shops for me to devour (like this one). However, they're so rare in the UK! *sad Nana*

The ramen they do sell in 'Asian' restaurants like Wagamama are so bleh haha.. Their broth is not as rich and tasty like the authentic Japanese ones. So when I traveled to London for a talk about Graduate Entry Medicine last Friday, I took that chance to hunt for a legit ramen shop!

The event took place at The Royal Society of Medicine which was probably one of the fanciest venue I've ever been to. I found the talks quite useful especially the one by a practicing doctor because she gave a very honest view about what's it like being a doctor here.

The place is so posh and beautifully decorated! / Cheeky bathroom selfie hehe

They gave me my own name badge!

After the event, Akash and I headed to Shoryu Ramen. I WAS SO EXCITED I'M TELLING YOU. I was craving for ramen for 4 months! XD (There are no authentic ramen shops in the town where I live, and because of my intense studies, I didn't have time to go to London where all the shops are.)

We picked this shop because it had the best reviews on Google and it was walking distance from the Royal Society of Medicine. Waitresses greeted us in Japanese, just like the ramen shops in Thailand! The restaurant was quite packed but luckily there was a free table for us. By this time, I was so happy I was almost dancing haha.

We both ordered Kotteri Hakata Tonkotsu (+ extra Char Siu Barbecue Pork Bellyand it was absolutely delicious

Wagyu Shoryu Bun - much wonderful, so tasty

My bby enjoying the bun~ It was also his first time eating authentic ramen, and he fell in love with it immediately :P

Matcha Cheesecake - the perfect, delightful dessert to finish off our dinner <3

Needless to say, our tummies were very full and happy. My cravings have been satisfied! We'll definitely come back here again soon :')

  8. This makes me want to eat Ramen again, too ;;
    Haven't had any ever since I've been to Japan in 2014. I can't stand the instant stuff (it's almost a crime to call it ramen if you ask me) and I didn't have time to look for an authentic shop here in Berlin... I hope there is one and I can look for it someday xx

    1. Mhm I totally understand what you mean about the instant ramen! It's nothing compared to the authentic, freshly made ones - especially compared to what you must have eaten in Japan~ Hopefully there's a nice shop in Berlin so you can enjoy some ramen hehe ^^

  13. Only recently I've discovered the wonders of ramen, in a ramen and noodle bar here in Dublin - substantial, tasty, rich, brothy nutritious thing, isn't it? And healthy too. Not to mention how pretty it actually looks.
