GlassesShop Review

Wednesday, May 11, 2016

I have really bad eyesight. Like really, really bad. Thanks to my young teenage self who was obsessed with reading fiction books any time and any where. In the car, at the dining table, on the toilet, on the sofa, everywhere. The lighting isn't always bright enough and sometimes, my face gets too close to the book when the story gets intense haha..

That's why I've been wearing glasses ever since I was in middle school. Since then, I've probably worn 10 different glasses in all shapes and sizes (you can call me an eyeglasses expert, haha I kid). My latest frame was black thick-rimmed, big and square-ish. I've been wearing that pair for 2 years so it's getting a bit worn out.

I've been thinking of getting new ones soon and, lo and behold, GlassesShop contacted me for a collaboration! They wanted me to review a pair of glasses from them. Talk about good timing! I happily agreed and here we are.

If you need prescription glasses, all they ask for is your PD (pupillary distance) and RX (your prescription). With advice from my boyfriend, the fashionista between the two of us, I decided to get this black, round thin-rimmed frame.

The glasses came in a nice plastic box with soft, yellow spectacle wipe. My first impression after wearing them was how light the glasses are. The weight of glasses is so important to me because heavy ones hurt my nose after wearing them for many hours. So I'm very keen that this pair is light!

After wearing these glasses for over a week, I can confidently say that I really love them! The frame really suits my face shape (seriously, my boyfriend kept saying how good I looked in the glasses XD). The lens are on the thicker side but that's probably because of my horrible eyesight, haha.

The frame itself is light and durable. I really like how sturdy it feels. One minor thing that could be improved is the tightness of the temples (the glasses 'legs'). It's slightly too tight behind my ears but it doesn't bother me too much.

Having a great pair of glasses is essential for me because 1. I'm pretty much blind so I need glasses to function haha, and 2. I'm a uni student, I need to be able to see lecture slides clearly. I'm very happy with my new glasses (my previous one was getting really old). So yeah, I'm going to be wearing this pair of glasses for a long, long time!

Bonus photo set, this is me when I study:

  3. It's the second or third time that I heard of Glasses Shop now and I'm so tempted to check them out, but first I need to get tested...
I have trouble with migraine and hurting eyes for a while now and still couldn't figure out if it is because of my unhealthy level of stress or because I could use a pair of glasses to disburden my eyes.
It's not like I notice any problems with seeing something from afar or really close but sometimes even small things can be really tiring for your eyes, right? I need to figure that out before I invest in a cute pair of glasses that suit me :/

    1. Hi Yuku! Ah, I would strongly recommend you to visit your optician and get an eye test. It's better to find out the cause of your migraine and pain in your eyes early, rather than too late. Hope your migraine and eye pain goes away soon! > <

  8. It looks cute on you. I don't wear eyeglasses so I don't quite relate, but I'm definitely recommending this to my sister who wears eyeglasses because she needs a new one.

  9. I get really bad headaches when my glasses don't fit well (i.e., when the temples are too tight). I used to have one that didn't quite sit well with my head/face that I had to replace it after a month. Also, I get migraine from not wearing my glasses, especially outdoors during daytime. Sun glare is my nemesis. :/

  11. I like those glasses on you. Simple yet slightly different. I also have very bad eyesight but I've learned to live with it. While I see a lot of nice frames in online shops I never take the plunge because I really need to see them in person on my face. I must try on at least 50 different ones before I find the perfect glasses.
