Spring Skincare Routine

Hey there!

I've been wanting to share my spring skincare routine for ages, so I'm excited for you to read this! I know spring is ending soon but hey, better late than never right? :P

As the seasons change, my skincare routine also changes. Now that it's getting warmer (well on some days, thanks to the moody British weather heh), I'm saying bye to heavy moisturisers and hello to lighter formulas and sunscreens.

My routine is loosely based on the 10-step Korean skincare routine. (Shoutout to Wengie, one of my fave youtubers, for introducing me to this skincare world!) I have oily/combination skin and these products have worked really well on my skin.

1. Eye makeup remover
APPLICATION: I pour the solution onto a cotton pad, hold it on my closed eyelids for a few secs to let it absorb then gently wipe until my eye makeup is removed.
FREQUENCY: Every night

2. Oil cleanser
APPLICATION: I use my hands to massage the oil onto my face to remove all my makeup, and then rinse off with water.
FREQUENCY: Every night

3. Foaming cleanser
APPLICATION: Just like any other cleansers - wet your face, massage onto your face and wash off with water :P
FREQUENCY: Twice a day (morning & night)

4. Exfoliators & clay mask
APPLICATION: I use the exfoliators alternatively (different one each week). For the gel, I gently massage it on my face for 30 secs to 1 minute then rinse with water. For the sugar mask, I apply it over my face (avoiding my eyes & lips) and rinse with warm water after 10-15 minutes. I do the same for my clay mask(My skin feels so clean and refreshed after using these!) For the lip scrub, I lightly scrub it on my lips and wash off with water.
FREQUENCY: Ideally once a week, but being the lazy bum that I am, I do it like twice a month hahaha

5. Toner
APPLICATION (+BEAUTY HACK!): Pouring the solution into a spray bottle and spraying it over my face (with my eyes closed) makes it SO much easier to apply! (WAY quicker than pouring the liquid on a cotton pad) After spraying, I simply pat my face to help my skin absorb the toner.
FREQUENCY: Every night & before applying makeup

6. Essence
APPLICATION: Same as the toner, I spray it over my face and pat :')
FREQUENCY: Every night

7. Serums
APPLICATION: Using my fingertip, I apply the Cosrx Liquid onto where my blackheads are - nose tip & between my eyebrows. (It really works, my blackheads are slowly disappearing!) For the Innisfree serum, I apply it on my whole face, avoiding lips & eyes. (I love the smell of green tea <3)
FREQUENCY: Every night

8. Sheet masks
PRODUCT: Various masks from different brands! I love ones from Mamonde and Innisfree :)
APPLICATION: Y'know how it works haha
FREQUENCY: Same as exfoliators - ideally once a week but realistically, twice or even once a month XD (bad Nana..)

9. Eye cream
APPLICATION: Using a tiny amount, I apply over my eyelids and under my eyes. (Can you tell I super love Innisfree green tea products? Ohoho)
FREQUENCY: Every night

10. Lip balms
APPLICATION: At night - I normally use the Laneige one, and use the Lush one for when my lips need some extra love. Before applying makeup - I always use the Maybelline lip balm. (It's very soothing for my lips! ^^)
FREQUENCY: Every night / before applying makeup

11. Moisturisers
APPLICATION: Innisfree moisture cream for my face before applying makeup. Dove lotion for my whole body most nights. Eucerin skin balm for my hands on a daily basis. (Since I started working as a healthcare assistant, my hands have become very dry due to frequent handwashing - this balm has really restored & maintained my hands back to normal!)
FREQUENCY: Before applying makeup / daily

12. Others
APPLICATION: I apply the Nivea sun lotion on my face before makeup, and also on my body on sunny days (which is fairly rare in England HAHA). And of course, spring means wearing shorts & dresses, which means we gotta shave. *groans*
FREQUENCY: Before makeup on sunny days / whenever I get hairy LOL

To add to that, shaving can be a nuisance but oh my gosh it's always worth it because having freshly shaved smooth legs is one of the best feelings in the world! Dollar Shave Club has asked me to write about spring skincare routine, and they believe that fresh razors are an essential part of healthy skin care - nothing causes skin irritation quite like a dull blade, after all ;)

I actually really enjoy doing my skincare routine every night. It's my way to wind down after a long day.

What is your skincare routine like? :)

With love,

  1. HAD to check out what you had to say with the Cosrx serum!! Super excited for my blackheads to disappear. (So far its been preventing more black heads to pop up)

  2. i lovee reading about other peoples skincare routines ! great post !

  3. I enjoy seeing that others have such long routines as well! I used to have an obsession with buying masks (clay or sheet) and being too lazy to use them, haha. Since it's summer and the heat is making my skin oilier, I really need to stop being lazy with my routine :<
